However, becoming self-sufficient doesn't necessarily have to mean major lifestyle changes, it can simply mean you become more self-reliant in your own life, in your own way. Click here

April 15, 2011 - "Food Storage Solutions for a Small Home" By Crystal Ray. In a small house, all of the rooms are generally undersized, and the kitchen is no exception. Many people have trouble finding storage solutions for everyday items let alone food and other daily necessities. Cabinets are often lacking in a small home, and closet-style pantries are usually poorly designed. Instead of wondering where to store food such as canned goods, mixes, and staples including sugar and flour, consider the following easy food storage solutions for a small house. Try these ideas and find more storage space in the kitchen for all types of non-perishable food. Click here
April 15, 2011 - "Seattle Ann Dunham" Something needs to be explained in the birth of Barack Hussein Obama jr. in that if the records were simply there for the dropping out of the sky, the records would be public, or, like in the case of the group which data mined Barack Obama's passport files, and that individual started cooperating with authorities, he would be found dead as he was outside his Church with bullet holes in him. April 14, 2011 - "Did Next Commander-in-Chief Falsify Selective Service Registration? Never Actually Register? Obama’s Draft Registration Raises Serious Questions" By Debbie Schlussel. Did President-elect Barack Hussein Obama commit a federal crime in September of this year? Or did he never actually register and, instead, did friends of his in the Chicago federal records center, which maintains the official copy of his alleged Selective Service registration commit the crime for him? Here is documented proof from 2008. Click here
April 14, 2011 - "Obama may have a criminal past..." This is an article written by an ex IRS investigator....very interesting. Trump is correct, Barry Soetoro, AKA Obama is hiding something in his past that is very bad... and it may not be his citizenship. (Trump would not say this if he did not know something and he has the money to get the dirt...) Click here
April 13, 2011 - "Who owns the U. S?" While most of the country's $14 trillion debt is held by private banks in the U.S., the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve Board estimate that, as of December, about $4.4 trillion of it was held by foreign governments that purchase our treasury securities much as an investor buys shares in a company and comes to own his or her little chunk of the organization. You would be surprised when you see some of the countries that have large stocks of interest in America. Click here
April 12, 2011 - "Whole Wheat Crackers" By Sylvia Britton. Homemade Whole Wheat Crackers are really tasty and even my picky eater likes them. Roll them out very, very… very thinly. If you only roll them out to a quarter inch thick, they will be kind of chewy, which is OK, but if you like crisp crackers, go ahead and roll them out to 1/8 inch. Click here
April 11. 2011 - "Rosemary Found to Offer Best Protection against Radiation Poisoning" By Barbara L. Minton. The U.S. is turning into radiation nation. In the twenty-three years since Chernobyl, Americans seem to have forgotten the impact of radiation on health. Swept up in the euphoria over an endless parade of wireless devices, we have turned our backs on the common sense that informed us that Chernobyl was a really big deal when we heard the news. April 9, 2011 - "Open carry in the state of Delaware" By Joseph Parish. Most people do not realize that the state of Delaware is an open carry state when it comes to firearms. By this I mean that it is perfectly legal for a Delaware citizen to openly carry a handgun for self-defense and no license what-so-ever is required. A quick call to the Delaware Attorney General’s Office can readily confirm these facts. Click here
“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!” Adolf Hitler
April 9, 2011 - "Looking for a cow for your homestead" By Joseph Parish. My friend Wayne and I were discussing livestock over a few rounds of coffee the other evening and he suggested the possibility of raising a few cows. Since my mini-farm is only two acres, I thought that the idea of a cow was a bit of ridiculous thought and laughed at the idea. Wayne went on to explain that the ideal cow for a small farm or homestead would be the Dexter bovine. Click here
April 9, 2011 - "Instant Potato Soup Mix" By Joseph Parish. When cool afternoons or rainy days approach it is always a good time to make a pot of homemade soup. Soup is generally an especially popular meal with the men in your life whether they are your 12 years old sons or your thirty some year old husband. In many cases a dehydrated version of soups can be created in the event that fresh products are not available at the market place. This situation could result from a major national emergency such as hurricanes or floods which would prevent the supply trucks from arriving at their destination. With our instant soup recipe all you will need to do is open the jar and pour the contents into a medium pot of hot, boiling water. Click here
April 8, 2011 - "5 Steps to Protect Yourself from Radiation Exposure" By Vincent Pedre M.D. The situation at the Japanese nuclear plants at Fukushima remains tenuous and the possibility of radiation exposure uncertain. The residents of Tokyo, 180 miles to the south are being advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to outside air while being reassured that radiation levels are low. While the conditions at the Japanese facility are worse than 3-mile Island, they have not reached the proportions of the Chernobyl catastrophe. Click here
April 7, 2011 - "The FLOSS is Rising or How to live frugally" By Kirsten Cavaliere. In case you haven’t noticed, the FLOSS (fresh, local, organic, seasonal and sustainable) movement is on the rise. More and more people these days, for a varietal of reasons and due in part the internet and media coverage, are taking an interest in how and where their food comes from. This is a fantastic first step, and a small beacon of light in an otherwise problem saturated world. Click here.

April 7, 2011 - "CIA Whistleblower talks about Heart Attack gun" Well folks it looks like the cat's out of the bag on this weapon. The first question that comes to my mind is who authorizes the use of this weapon? Is it the president or the chief of the CIA? There are many answers that congress needs to discover before this gets completely out of hand. Watch the video here.
April 7, 2011 - "66 Things You Can Grow At Home: In Containers, Without a Garden" By Rachel Cernansky. Growing your own food is exciting, not only because you get to see things grow from nothing into ready-to-eat fruits and veggies, but you also don't have to worry about the pesticides they might contain, and you definitely cut down on the miles they—and you—have to travel. April 7, 2011 - "Remember When" By Joseph Parish. How many of you can remember those times as a teenager when your life was much simpler than it is today? A time frame when you were younger but less cautious than you are these days. Think back to the times when we often had our eyes on the chance for some good clean exciting fun which most kids today fail to grasp even when presented with the opportunity to experience such an event. April 6, 2011 - "My favorite Pea Soup" By Joseph Parish. Spring time is quickly approaching and although you may not be harvesting your fresh Green Peas yet you can still enjoy the fine taste of a Green Pea soup. One of my all time favorite soups happens to be Green Pea topped with maybe a sprinkle of cheese or some garlic flavored croutons. This soup provides a family with a refreshing lift as well as a quick way to prepare an unusual side dish. It is also great when used as the main course of an evening meal. Click here
April 6, 2011 - "Do Medications Really Expire?" By Richard Altschuler. Does the expiration date on a bottle of a medication mean anything? If a bottle of Tylenol, for example, says something like "Do not use after June 1998," and it is August 2002, should you take the Tylenol? Should you discard it? Can you get hurt if you take it? Will it simply have lost its potency and do you no good? Click here
April 5, 2011 - "Your Cadbury Easter Eggs are finished" By Joseph Parish. Get a head start on the upcoming Easter holiday with a famous Cadbury Crème Egg want-to-be. Surprise your kids on on Easter morning. The Cadbury Chocolate Egg was originally produced by a British company known as Cadbury Schweppes. How well we all recall the thick milk chocolate outer shell and the yellow and white filling that represented yolk of a real egg. Click here
April 4, 2011 - "The Urban Survivor's Tool Bag" By Christopher Fisher. Many bug out bags are oriented towards wilderness situations or incidents such as surviving an airplane crash in a remote area. Some of the items will have a surprising overlap, as one would be amazed at the number of small mammals which can be caught with simple traps or snares in an urban setting. However there may be unique hazards and situations in an urban area requiring special tools. This list is by no means all inclusive, but should give a baseline for planning and thoughts along the right direction. Click here

April 3, 2011 - "Garden As If Your Life Depended On It, Because It Will" By Ellen LaConte. Spring has sprung—at least south of the northern tier of states where snow still has a ban on it—and the grass has ‘riz. And so has the price of most foods, which is particularly devastating just now when so many Americans are unemployed, underemployed, retired or retiring, on declining or fixed incomes and are having to choose between paying their mortgages, credit card bills, car payments, and medical and utility bills and eating enough and healthily. Many are eating more fast food, prepared foods, junk food—all of which are also becoming more expensive—or less food. Click here
"You may be a Survivalist if you have emergency rations for your pets, and view your pets as potential emergency rations."
April 2, 2011 - "Grow an interesting Avocado tree" By Joseph Parish. I perhaps have covered a similar garbage gardening topic on sprouting avocado trees from a seed during a past article, but it is always good to review the process and remind people of the ease and enjoyment that can be obtained from our common grocery store vegetables and fruit. In addition, with all the genetically modified foods reaching the market these days our times of garbage gardening may be soon coming to a halt. click here
April 2, 2011 - "I said it before and I will say it again" By Joseph Parish. Over and over I have habitually been predicting that our food crisis is rapidly deteriorating and quickly heading for greater disaster as the days past. Now all of a sudden we can start to see the figures slowly emerging. I am confident that once you view the horrible black and white numbers that you will realize the severity of the situation and act accordingly. click here

April 1, 2011 - "Make Your Own Yogurt" by Mary Ann Romans. Yesterday's blog on saving money on butter sparked a great discussion. In it, I learned that you can make your own butter using a breadmaker. I had never heard of this technique before. This is one of the reasons I really love being a part of Families.com, because the members here are so clever and kind. Click here
