Imagine living a life where your every movement involves getting down to avoid being shot by some hidden sniper or trying to shoot a man aiming an AK 47 at you before he kills both you and perhaps several of your friends.
Although the temperatures in the area may be in the low 70's, by the time this military patrol gets near the top of the nearby mountain the members may have to travel through a possible three feet of snow drifts. A glance around you reveals snow covered mountains, deep snow white valleys, and frigid rivers. Such outposts are usually located in remote locations which are often approached only via helicopter.
Well, this is exactly the life that the members of the 1st PLT C-Troop 1 Squadron 91 Cavalry Regiment at Altimur go through on a daily basis. These 28 military members known as the "Death Dealers" are part of the Forward Operating Base at Altimur and have to deal with daily alerts revolving around their jobs as Taliban radio communications interceptors. Itís not unusual to see their vehicles armed with 50 Cal. machine guns or Mark 19 grenade launchers all locked and ready to fire since the immediate area is continually crawling with Taliban extremists out to kill Americans.
These American troops lead a Spartan type of life at this location often times needing specific items not supplied by the government. Delmarva Survival Training has made arrangements to adopt this particular platoon during their upcoming tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The time has come for us to show that we fully support our troops in their quest for victory. We as a group can help in a small way to make their life a little more bearable while showing our appreciation for what they are doing. These heroís can always use various shelf foods and snacks, person hygiene products for males (there are no ladies at this location) and any type of entertainment items that we can come up with.
You can either contact me and I will make arrangements to pick up the items or you can send them directly to the following location:
SSG Robert L Metz
1st PLT C-Troop 1-91 CAV
If you send items directly please let me know so I can keep track of it. Letís do our part and show these guys what Delmarva Survival Training can do! Below is a previously created video showing these teams in action.
